New Station Coming Soon

Beach House Radio will be bringing back BHR Terrazza for a full launch towards the end of 2009.

BHR Terrazza was test streamed back in early 2008 and included a slightly more up-beat chillout selection. The new station will be a mix of the same funkier, chillout, summer music, all advert free.

BHR Terrazza will only be availble to Premium Service subscribers of our main station and should be available from Sept/Oct.

We would just like to take this opportunity to thank the continued support from our sponsors:

Ovetto Recycling Bins at Deffrye Museum Exhibition

The Ovetto Recycling Waste Bin, created by designer Gianluca Soldi, has been selected by the Geffrye Museum for inclusion in their exhibition Eco Home - October 2009 / January 2010.

Eco Home will offer visitors food for thought on what they can do to make small but important eco changes in their homes. At the same time they will be able to see that eco-friendly can also be chic and that aspiration towards good taste and design can go hand-in-hand with trying to help conserve the planet's resources. In fact, ecological design is now at the cutting edge of home design, with traditional products becoming ever more stylish.

Ovetto is a great example of this. The egg-shaped bin is divided into three compartments, each a different colour - for paper, plastic, cans and so on - and each compartment has a door for changing the bag and a small round lid at the top for dropping each item in. There is even a plastic bottle and can crusher on top to reduce the volume of the waste.

Ovetto Bins boast excellent green credentials in their own right. The external parts are made from ABS; the recycled ABS used for the white and coloured parts is 40-70% recycled industrial discard; while the recycled polypropylene used for the black parts inside is 100% recycled from end-user products like PCs, printers and so on.

The Ovetto Recycling Bins continue to be a favourite with Objekts customers throughout the UK and we wish them every success with the exhibition.

Beach House Radio For Bars/Stores/Shops etc

Just a quick blog entry to mention our Premium Service.

As you may know, we now run a premium service for just $4.00 per month. The service is available in either 128kbps audio or 192kbps. The 192kbps stream is absolutely awesome quality.

There are no adverts and no station idents - basically 100% music.

This means it is ideal for playing in shops, bars, clubs etc. Plus current music law in many countries will allow the playback of TV or radio services without the need to pay performance rights to your countries collection agency. (you will need to check local law depending on your own country)

For example, if you run a store in the UK and need some background music, you can use the Beach House Radio Premium Service without having to pay PRS royalties.

If you would like more information, please contact us at station@beachhouseradio.com or to subscribe now for just $4.00 per month, then feel free to visit our website.

Listen on iPhone - Premium Service Launched

With thanks to the great guys at Shoutcast, you can now listen to Beach House Radio on your iPhone. Simply download the FREE Shoutcast App then search for "Beach House" to find us. Click on play and away you go. (Note: This is currently only available for listeners of the Free stream and only when streams are available).

As promised, we have now launched our Premium Service. As many regular listeners will know, our free service has now been running for nearly 3 years. Last year, costs were running so high we had to strip the service down to the bare minimum. So, while the free service is still available, there are only limited streams, which means you cannot always connect to your favourite station.

The new Premium Service gives you:

- Enhanced Audio Quality (192kbps as opposed 128kbps on the free stream)
- Advert Free
- Personal Guaranteed Stream
- Private Members Area (Coming Soon)

All this for just $4.00 per month - Listen Live

Pop over to the site now to find out more - Beach House Radio.com - or why not check out the forum, a great place to ask questions and chat.

New Advertising Opportunities From $15.00

As regular readers of our blog and listeners to the station will know, back in October 2008 we were broadcasting to over 250,000 people each month. The cost of providing this many live streams became to crippling for our small, not-for-profit station and we could no longer finance so much from our own pockets.

At the beginning of 2009, we brought Beach House Radio back on a very limited budget. This has enabled us to provide a handfull of live streams to keep the station alive. However, now that our listeners are flocking back and finding us again, we are constantly maxing out our live streams. The only way we can provide enough for everyone to listen at any time is to raise enough cash to boost the amount of live streams we can produce.

Therefore, we have created some new advertising opportunities which you may be interested in if you own, run or look after a small company or retail store.

WEB BANNER ADVERT (6 MONTHS) - $35.00

BASIC TEXT/SITE LINK (6 MONTHS)- $15.00

ON AIR ADVERT (1 MONTH & AD CREATION) - $60.00

ON AIR TV ADVERT ON OUR YOU TUBE TV CHANNEL (1 MONTH) - $30.00

BLOG ADVERT (300 WORDS & 3 DEEP URL LINKS) - $15.00

For further information, please email us - station@beachhouseradio.com

If you do not wish to advertise but would like to help out, click on "Join Us"

Have a great week.

Artist of the Week - Michael E

Michael E is no newcomer to Beach House Radio, we have been playing various tracks and remixes from Michael for some time now and he is good friends with BHR favourite Charlie North.

In a recent chat with Michael, he explained how he "fell in love with music" at an early age and took piano lessons as a child. As he grew, so did his passion and involvement with music. While making his way around the US bases in Europe, he began to compose his own music. "As technology advanced, I got the idea that I could do everything; composing, producing, performing, mixing..." says Michael. "The technology became affordable and allowed my vision to come to pass."

We have added a host of new tracks from Michael to our playlist - Listen Live Now

Catya Mare - New Tracks & Awards

Long time listeners to Beach House will already be familiar with Catya Mare. We first featured Catya back in 2006, debuting some of her original tracks.

Since then Catya has been pretty busy. After a move to the US in 2007, she signed a record deal with a US label. More recently, she was nominated for the Hollywood Award last November and won the Billboard World Song Contest this February.

Despite all this, she has still found time to put together some great new tracks:

Catya Mare - Adventurous You
Catya Mare - Destiny
Catya Mare - Echoes
Catya Mare - Epic Love
Catya Mare - Finally Together
Catya Mare - Reminiscence (updated version)
Catya Mare - When I Met You remix

All playing in rotation - Listen Live

For more information about Catya, visit our main site (Beach House Radio) and click on the Friends and Music page or you can catch her directly on MySpace or via her own site Catya Mare.

More from Michael E next week.

New Track From Charlie North

Added to the playlist today is a great new track from BHR favourite Charlie North.

Chinese Whispers was written by Charlie and remixed by Michael E, another great artist you hear on BHR.

"Both Michael and I are very proud of this track and think it fits in perfectly with the Beach House playlist." says Charlie, "it's great to have you guys back as well".

It is with the help and support of great artists like Charlie that Beach House Radio has been able to keep broadcasting and their dedication to great music is what continues to drive us to make the best Chillout music station we can.

Chinese Whispers has now been added to our playlist - Listen Live to BHR

If you haven't done so already, you can check out some of Charlie's great video's on our You Tube channel - BeachHouseTV

For more info on Charlie North - www.CharlieNorth.co.uk

Final note - we have added a few (only a few mind) more streams, so hopefully you can get listening a little easier now. Thanks as always to Objekts.co.uk

Our full playlist will soon be availble via the website and blog pages. More great tracks and news next week from BHR favourite Catya Mare.

Artist of the Month - March 09 - Lemonchill

Okay, first artist of the month since our return. Lemonchill.

Great track now added to the playlist - En Larmes - check it out.

Meanwhile, here's what Lemonchill had to say to BHR:

"I grew up while listening to music all my life (all kinds of music:
60, 70, 80, jazz, electronic, industrial, gothic, synthpop, ambient, chill out, lounge, trance and more). In 2005 I finished my studies at BPM music college where I learned everything I know today. Since then for two years I have been making and creating music.

Now I am trying to combine all of these great music styles to one group in my album "SENTANT". It is a mixture of all those music styles. My album "SENTANT” (feeling in French) took me over one year to finish. It is very intense and personal, after a very painful relationship I went through. I guess this whole album is like a therapy for me to "let out" everything I had in my heart through music. The girl that was the "muse and inspiration" for this album will remain a mystery for now. I think everyone that heard my music can hear the emotions and feelings floating in my music as I wrote in the headlines: this music is for your heart and soul.
enjoy...."

Now playing - Beach House Radio

We're Getting There

Wednesday 25th Feb saw more new tracks added to the playlist. All tracks playing out at 128kbps. I have to say, listening to the stream myself, the quality is great. Anything over 128kbps causes some streaming problems for people listening via mobile internet or over an older wireless network.

Anyway, more tracks will be added over the next couple of weeks plus we will have our first new artist of the week next Wednesday.

Just a quick thanks for all the messages of support you have been sending us, we appreciate every one. YOU are the reason we needed to get BHR back up and running so quickly.

Hopefully we can add a few more streams as we get into the Spring.

Finally, we have entered the world of Twitter - BHR, always keen to jump on the bandwagon! Not sure how interesting it will be as we don't live crazily exciting lives. Anyway, check it out from the website if you desparately need to know if we are having a coffee or walking the dog!

Later.

Sunday 22 February 2009

Hey guys, we're back!

After a few long months of crying into our beer about our sad demise, we've got our act together and BHR is back on air.

Okay, so pro's and cons - for now, streams are extremely limited. As you may know, after our original broadcast was listed in the iTunes directory, we could not cope with the amount of listeners. So for now, we hope you can log onto the stream but if you can't, be patient. Oddly, I would ask for you not to pass our details on for the time being as I am sure we will be pretty full up with previous listeners.

Another con (for the time being) is that the playlist will be pretty basic until we get time to play around with it some more and fix the bugs and tweaks, so please bear with us.

Finally the pros (well pro actually, there's only one!) - we are now broadcasting in superb 128kbps quality. For non techies, this means you can listen to our station in superb quality.

Anyway, we're gonna be pretty busy over the coming weeks but as usual, get in touch with any comments or questions.

Nice to be back.

Off The Air - Back Soon....

Okay, so it has taken some time to update the BHR Blogger blog with what's going on. If you have come from the main site, you will have read our story. Rather than repeat it here, pop along to www.beachhouseradio.com and have a read.

To cut a long story short and looking to the future, we hope to be back broadcasting before the end of the year with very limited streams.

We would like to take time to thank all of our listeners and a special mention goes to online design boutique Objekts (www.objekts.co.uk) for all their help so far.
