Artist of the Week - 20th Aug 2008

Hey world. Life in Beach House world seems to be a little more hectic than it should be. You would think this would lead to a long and exciting blog entry but all the work we are doing is the boring and mundane necessities.

So, to cheer ourselves up we have been listening to tracks from Carlos Russo, our featured artist this week.

Carlos is the first artist to be featured on our sister station, Beach House Radio : Terraza. Although Terraza doesn't officially launch until September, we have been test broadcasting for the last few months on limited stream availability. So far you guys love it, keep an eye out for the official launch towards the end of September.

Here is a little bit about Carlos and his new track "Massive Joy" which is now playing on the Terraza test stream:

Artist Of The Week & Big Chill Pics

Well what a week we have had. From being bombarded with great new music from the likes of this weeks Artist of the Week, Area 27; to spending 3 days in the english countryside listening to some great music.

If you want to find out what we got up to at the Big Chill Festival (UK), visit http://www.beachhouseradio.com/bigchill.html Here you will find loads of pics and a quick insight into our weekend. Video clips are also available on our TV channel at www.youtube.com/beachhouseradio

We are proud to announce this week's artist Area 27. Formed in 2004 by Shalien & The Lord of The Starfields, Area 27 is a collaborative music project that has remained somewhat enigmatic.
The debut CD "Magik & Mayhem" was concieved and recorded in an unorthodox fashion at a series of inspirational locations and makeshift studios. These locations included a converted office floor in a very cosmopolitan section of Melbourne, Australia, a decommissioned navy base on the Central Coast of California and a magikal, serene property in the California high desert..
The music draws from a wide range of influences, from obvious contemporaries; Portishead, Massive Attack etc to the not so obvious but strong influence of artits as varied as David Bowie, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Peter Gabriel, INXS, Prince, Coldplay, Radiohead & Tom Waits.
You can find out more here www.last.fm/music/Area+27

Catch the tracks Black Sun and Dancing on The Moon now playing on the station.

Have a great week.

PS. Big thanks to the guys at Idea Generation (http://www.ideageneration.co.uk) for all their help at the Big Chill Festival.
